The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is part of an integrated team of community professionals who provides presence and physical, emotional, and relational care for our residents.  The Waters care model is based on the principles of integrated nursing that provides resident care, assists with designing and fulfilling care based on an individual resident's assessment, and leads teams of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) in the provision of excellent care.

Different from many traditional roles, the LPN at The Waters engages in hands-on care, develops close relationships with residents and families, and leads by example for our unlicensed caregivers and volunteers.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program required
  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing by the state in which the community is located required
  • Current licensure maintained (12 hours per year of Continuing Education Unit (CEU)) required
  • Experience with general nursing and senior care preferred
  • Knowledgeable about the Home Care Bill of Rights as it applies to the LPN
  • Knowledge of and willingness to learn advanced therapies for memory care
  • Demonstrated leadership, good judgment, and dependability
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication in English
  • Ability to function as a primary caregiver and perform duties of unlicensed team members
  • Free from a medical condition, including drug or alcohol addition, that would limit direct care staff person from providing necessary assisted living services with reasonable skill and safety
  • Ability to communicate in a mode or manner understood by resident
